Sisters share of their family’s multiple connections with Hiroshima, Rev. Tanimoto & Hiroshima Maidens.
8-6-2010, on the 65th Anniversary of the 1st use of an atomic bomb, Tim Nagae filmed an interview by Judy Markle of Carol (Rugh) Green & her sister, Kim (Rugh) Bergier, about their family's multiple relationships with Hiroshima. This started with a visit with Rev. Kiyoshi Tanimoto in Hiroshima in June 1963 when Kim (along with her 2 brothers & parents) had a tour of Hiroshima and met some of the 25 "Hiroshima Maidens" he helped by fundraising & bringing them to the U.S. for plastic surgery on their deformed faces, post-atomic-bomb, dropped on 8-6-1945.
The 4 of us (Carol, Kim, Tim & Judy) had just come from Oak Ridge Environmental Peace Alliance's "Remembrance Ceremony" at Y-12 nuclear weapons' productions plant, in Oak Ridge, TN, where the uranium was enriched that fueled the bomb which destroyed Hiroshima.
We oppose plans for a $7.5 Billion nuclear weapon (UPF) plant planned for Y-12.
